SMALL ANIMALS, BIRDS, RABBITS, POCKET PETS, EXOTICS We employ veterinarians who possess experience in care and treatment of exotic pets. Well visits include a thorough physical examination and discussion on proper care and diet. Medical and surgical procedures include spays and neuters; beak, nail and feather trimming; and mass and tumor removal.

ANESTHESIA Prior to anesthesia, your pet will have a general physical examination and pre-op blood tests to determine his/her fitness for surgery or dentistry. Based on the pre-anesthetic workup, our veterinarians will then implement an anesthetic protocol using the safest and most current medications. During anesthesia, your pet is closely monitored by a trained veterinary assistant/technician. Hydration status, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation are closely monitored using state of the art equipment.   Monitoring is continued throughout the recovery period.

SURGERYSurgical procedures performed at our hospital include but are not limited to the following:

  • Routine neutering, spaying and declawing
  • Repair of wounds and lacerations
  • Removal of tumors from the skin, abdomen, or mouth
  • Removal of urinary bladder stones
  • Stomach and intestinal foreign body removal
  • Ear canal resection
  • Fracture repairs.
  • Orthopedic surgery

We also take great care to see that your loved one does not suffer any pain or discomfort. We routinely administer pain medications before and after any surgical procedure to insure your pet’s comfortable recovery.

If your pet requires specialized surgery, we will provide you with a referral to a specialist and then work closely with the specialist throughout the recovery period.

DENTISTRYOral exams are done under anesthesia to determine the dental needs of your pet. We routinely perform dental scaling, ultrasonic cleaning, polishing and, if necessary, extractions for diseased or fractured teeth. In addition to local nerve blocks, pain medication is administered at the time of the procedure. If needed, additional pain medication may be sent home.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGINGOur on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs used to diagnose a variety of disorders including hip dysplasia, fractures, spinal injuries, abdominal and thoracic tumors, as well as some abdominal or intestinal foreign objects. Radiographs are taken at the time of the office visit and evaluated immediately.

Ultrasounds and echocardiograms are state of the art non-invasive imaging technologies that use sound waves to examine specific internal organs. They allow our veterinarians to better visualize internal organs in the chest and abdomen and aid in making treatment decisions for your pet. Both ultrasounds and echocardiograms are available at our office.

When necessary, consultation with board certified specialists is available to ensure the best care for your pet.
